Dear Parents and Children,
As we approach the upcoming Easter break. As part of our continuous efforts to foster a love for reading within our school/community, we are excited to announce our sponsored read event, which we warmly invite you to partake in!
The sponsored read is a fantastic opportunity for children to immerse themselves in the wonderful world of books while simultaneously raising funds to support Friends of Wellow to refurbish the school library. It's an activity that not only promotes literacy but also instils a sense of social responsibility and community spirit.
Here's how it works:
Sign Up: Parents, please sign up your children if they wish to participate in the sponsored read. You can do so by filling out the online form (see below) and submitting it once completed.
Collect Pledges: Children will then seek sponsorship from friends, family, and neighbours for each page / book they read over the Easter break. Sponsors can pledge a certain amount per page / book or make a flat donation.
Read, Read, Read!: During the Easter break, children will dive into their favourite books, discovering new worlds, and expanding their imaginations.
Record Progress: It's important for children to keep track of the books they've read and the sponsors who have pledged. We will provide reading logs for this purpose.
Celebrate: After the Easter break, we will come together to celebrate the children's reading achievements and the funds raised. Prizes will be awarded to top readers and to the year group who raises the most funds for the PTA, but every participant will be acknowledged for their efforts.
We believe that reading is not just a hobby but a lifelong skill that opens doors to endless possibilities. By participating in this sponsored read, your child not only enhances their own literacy skills but also contributes to a meaningful cause that benefits our entire community.
We kindly ask for your support in making this event a success. Whether it's by sponsoring your child, spreading the word to friends and family, or volunteering your time to assist with organization, every contribution is invaluable.
Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in our school/community initiatives. Together, we can make this Easter break a time of learning, giving, and joy through the power of reading.
Should you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact us at friendsofwellow@gmail.com
Wishing you a joyful Easter break filled with wonderful adventures in the pages of a good book!
Warm regards,
Sophie Marie Hopkin
